Using Phorest to Establish & Grow a Successful Hair & Beauty Salon

Lisa is one of Phorest’s earliest adaptors, first implementing the system 15 years ago when she established Zinc Hair & Beauty, a salon and educational hub in the heart of Kilmainham, Dublin 8. Despite being a very different software back then, Lisa immediately saw the benefits that Phorest could provide for her new business, and was drawn to the fact that Phorest was founded and based in Ireland; “Something that was very important to me when I was opening my salon was that I wanted to support other Irish businesses… I think what Phorest offered that other salon systems didn’t offer was the reminder text messages, and also the marketing… the fact that you were going to be able to email your clients newsletters and updates was really quite new.”

 

Even back in 2009, Phorest’s features were “leaps and bounds ahead of what any other software company was offering,” explained Lisa, heading her to take the plunge and implement the system as soon as Zinc Hair & Beauty opened up.

Phorest allowed Zinc’s clients to book quickly and easily, something that, to this day, is vital in the salon industry and super important to the salon’s customer experience offering. “The online booking system was something that I thought was going to revolutionize how we would take appointments in the salon… even when we were closed, we were going to be able to take appointments!” explained Lisa.

 

Combining seamless appointment reminders and easy online booking paid off, resulting in a salon that operates today with virtually zero no-shows, and a digital appointment book of clients who feel cared for both inside and outside of the salon.

Salon Business Management Made Easier

As a first-time business owner, Lisa needed a salon software system that made management easier. Phorest’s robust reporting suite allowed Lisa to delve deeper into her KPIs, making data-informed decisions that helped drive the business to where it is today. 

 

“The financial reporting is really good. I’m able to get all of my KPIs… It helps me to calculate all the commissions for my team. Even if I was out and about, and we happened to get an inquiry through social media about the booking, I’d be able to book that for them through the app.” As a business owner like Lisa, being “always on” is an unofficial part of the job.
