It’s not even Halloween yet, but we thought it would be a good idea to start listing a few of the more common issues and their related step-by-step how-to guides. This includes setting your Christmas hours and rosters, ensuring gift vouchers remain a surprise gift, using deposits, and creating special offers. So without further ado, let’s dive in!
Step-By-Step Guides For 4 Common Technical Support Issues Coming Up To The Festive Season

That being said, we know from experience that the volume of calls coming around the holiday season tends to increase. Setting Special Opening Hours And Staff Rosters
There are two steps to amending your scheduled hours.
- Set up any special days that are required in your Branch Schedule (ie: where you are open on a day you would normally be closed or vice versa). This can be done via Manager > Business > Branch Schedule, as described here.
- Once you have set the salon hours on Phorest, the next step then is to make sure you have staff rostered on or off for those days you set up in the first step. Learn how to do this here.
Processing & Using Deposits
With the salon getting busier, your schedule getting tighter, and often with more group bookings coming in, many of our clients start taking deposits to guarantee appointments. Special Offers
The holiday season is a great time to push retail sales! With more clients in the salon and everyone in shopping mode, you have the chance to catch their eye with festive offers. If this is of interest, here’s how to create special offers for both services and products.
Gift Vouchers
The last thing you want to do is ruin the surprise of a gift voucher by sending a receipt for the voucher to the person it was bought for before they receive it! To make sure no one gets an unexpectedly early Christmas present, make sure that if Jane Doe’s husband is buying her a voucher, you don’t enter Jane Doe as the client on the purchase screen. Instead, it would be advisable to sell the voucher under a walk-in client, and when Jane comes in to redeem it, re-assign the voucher to her. We describe both these processes in the articles below:
