It’s no secret that therapists and stylists create and nurture trustworthy relationships with their clients – some of which last for years. Why not help build these relationships from day one with a virtual handshake? Posting employee bios on your salon’s website, app, or even social media accounts is a great way to initiate contact.

Top 3 Tips To Write Captivating Employee Bios
Based on our data, we know that one of the most popular features of our Salon Branded App is the Staff Profiles section. However, writing biographies is notoriously hard. It might sound odd, but having to write your own bio often leads to writer’s block. You know you’re great at what you do, but you’re conscious not to sound too boastful. How long should it be? How many of your qualifications should you list out?
And getting your staff bios right isn’t just good for the overall look of your business, but for client retention, too. Many clients will visit your salon specifically to see their preferred stylist, therapist, or clinician, showing that your team are one of your most important assets to highlight.
Here are three main points to help you make it just right.

1. Highlight Your Professional Qualifications
The first step to a good salon employee bio is highlighting professional skills. This can include:
- Education
- Years in the profession
- Certifications
- Past work experience
- Areas of expertise
2. Keep It Short, And Make It Personal
Aim for something easily skimmable. A short text; from 100 to 200 words. Make sure your tone matches your salon’s brand and atmosphere, but don’t be afraid to include a personal note about each employee – get your staff involved in the process! This could relate to a fun fact, personal interests, awards won, etc. Ultimately, salon and spa staff bios should be equally likable and knowledgeable to make it easier for your customers to relate. And remember that often, the most appealing bios end up being the ones who aren’t shy from going a little off track from the formalities.
3. Indicate What Services They Can Be Booked For
It’s important to make it clear to potential clients who in your salon can provide which services. Under your staff’s bio – or as a conclusion to it – enumerate what services they can offer. This helps new customers understand who they should book with for a haircut vs. a colour, a pedicure vs. a facial, etc.
One last thought. Your clients can go to any qualified stylist or therapist… so why should they come to your staff?
